The French Riviera as a symbol
The Blue Coast: the history of an image that became more than geographyThe Blue Coast. Two words behind which stands not just a map, but a whole kaleidoscope of meanings. The irony of fate is that Liégeard himself is almost forgotten today, while his metaphor lives and thrives. The Russian trace on the Blue CoastBy the end of the 19th century, the Blue Coast had become a favorite winter resort for Russian aristocracy. Up to the October Revolution, Russian travelers, artists, and writers turned dozens of kilometers of the coast from Cannes to Menton into a \"branch of the Black Sea beac ... Read more
