1505 Death (27.10) of Ivan III, one of the most prominent figures of feudal Russia. During his reign, the Grand Duchy of Moscow was replaced by the state of All Russia. 1510 Pskov land became part of the Russian state. The Veche bell, a symbol of autonomy, was taken to Moscow.

1550 The decree of Ivan IV creates unified management bodies (orders) for finance, foreign and military affairs. A "verdict" was signed "On the execution of a selected thousand military personnel in Moscow and surrounding counties", and a decree was issued on the creation of six Streltsy regiments of 500 people each. The beginning of the formation of troops in Russia on a permanent basis.
1552. A new campaign to Kazan. The siege lasts for two months, finally on October 2, the city is taken.
1564 The first printed book "Apostol" is published in Moscow. It was prepared by Russian printers Ivan Fedorov and Pyotr Mstislavets.
1565 Introduction of the Oprichnina. The country is divided into two parts: one retains the old system of government, and the other passes under the control of the tsar himself and personally loyal service people-oprichniks. This reform was accompanied by bloody repressions and executions.
1571. Boyar M. I. Vorotynsky draws up the "Boyar verdict on the village and guard service" - the first Russian military charter. He played a major role in organizing the protection of the state's borders.

1582 Ataman Ermak, who is in the service of the Stroganov merchants, crosses the Ural Mountains with a detachment of Cossacks and defeats the local Khan Kuchum. The colonization of Western Siberia began.
1584 Death of Ivan IV the Terrible. During his reign, the autocracy was significantly strengthened, the very possibility of feudal opposition was destroyed, and after the annexation of Kazan, the eastern border was significantly strengthened. But the Oprichnina, which passed through Russia with a heavy club, undermined the country's economy. Fyodor the Terrible's son is crowned king.
1586-1591 Architect and builder Fyodor Kon builds the White City structures around the Kremlin in Moscow.
In 1589, the Moscow Archdiocese was elevated to the rank of an independent patriarchate. Its first head, Job, is blessed by the Patriarch of Constantinople.
1598 Fyodor Ioannovich, the last tsar of the Rurik dynasty, dies. His wife, Irina Godunova, renounces the throne and takes the veil as a nun. The Zemsky Sobor, headed by Patriarch Job, elects Boris Godunov for the kingdom. In September, Boris is crowned king.
