For more than a year (since August 1997), the editorial office of the PriVO newspaper "Soldier of the Fatherland", in coordination with the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, has been conducting an experiment to reform and develop a promising model of the district newspaper. Its main goals are to expand the information space of the district newspaper in the regional media market and strengthen its influence on the military and civilian readership. To date, these goals have been largely achieved, and the results of the experiment allow us to look to the future with confidence. This is clearly demonstrated by the growth of the subscription circulation of the main newspaper by 20% (6778 copies). as of October 26, 1998), and together with the appendices, the total circulation has more than doubled over the past six months and now amounts to 9843 copies. And this is despite a significant reduction in the number of personnel of the PriVO.
Maintaining and growing the authority of the district newspaper contributes to a qualitative update of its model (content-thematic, compositional and graphic), giving it more informative and journalistic orientation. Based on the results of audience research, the editorial team strives to fully meet the interests and requests of readers, focusing its efforts on covering the most relevant and topical issues in the life of the army and the state.
The leading place in the subject of publications is occupied by a complex of social problems of the Armed Forces - housing and everyday life, targeted assistance to military personnel and adaptation of those who have been discharged to the reserve, effective legal protection of the legal rights and benefits of people in uniform.
