In our era, people accept as truth what provides a tactical advantage—what they pay for—and therefore, it no longer means that any article filled with formulas contains truth that is distinct from the truths about its lack of substance and the author's illiteracy. A profound thought by the mathematician Gelfand: "Logic works perfectly when an adequate language has been established by human experience, intuition, etc., but it is helpless when there is a need for this very language. The development of such a language is not a logical operation."
