March 5, 2000 marks the 80th anniversary of Doctor of Philology, Professor Viktor Noyevich Yarkho , an outstanding scientist and teacher, whose works are widely known not only in all the republics of the former Soviet Union, but also in many countries of the "far abroad". More than 60 of his works have been published in German, Italian, English, Chinese, Greek, and Hungarian, not counting about one and a half hundred articles in the two-volume "Myths of the Peoples of the World", published in Hungarian translation. For many years he was a member of the editorial board of the journal Philologus, and is currently a member of the international Scientific Committee of the journal Eikasmos, published in Bologna. V. I.
