On August 21, 2010, Alexander Vladimirovich Akimov, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of Economic Research of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, turned 60 years old.
After graduating from the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1972, Alexander Vladimirovich worked as a researcher at the All-Russian Research Institute of Complex Fuel and Energy Problems under the State Planning Committee of the USSR. In 1977, Alexander Vladimirovich defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Population forecasting for a set of territorial units of different levels". Since 1984, A.V. Akimov has been working at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Economic Research, continuing his research, organizational and teaching activities.
In 2005, Alexander Vladimirovich successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and became Head of the Department of Economic Research of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2005, the project "Economic mechanisms of development in the countries of the East in the second half of the XX century and the possibilities of their change in Russia"was completed. Employees of the department headed by A.V. Akimov did a great job of clarifying and specifying the concept of an economic mechanism necessary for creating a database. They are divided into categories that allow, on the one hand, to take into account the diversity and variability of state regulation of the economy in the Eastern countries in the second half of the XX century and, on the other, to provide for the possibility of developing many aspects of macroeconomic regulation of the Russian economy in market conditions.
