In the 1920s and 1930s, when B. D. Irkutsk State University had Buryat-Mongolian and Yakut departments of humanities. Major historical scholars taught there: F. A. Kudryavtsev (1899-1970), P. P. Khoroshikh (1890-1978), and V. D. Kudryavtsev (1898-1980).
B. D. Tsibikov became a worthy successor of his famous teachers. He is the author of 15 monographs, pamphlets, about 100 scientific problem and popular science journal articles and reviews, and newspaper publications*. He wrote the following chapters: "Education of the BMASSR (1921-1925)", (1953); "Formation of the Buryat-Mongolian ASSR "(1959); " Buryatia in the Years of Transition to the Socialist Reconstruction of the National Economy of the USSR (1926-1928)"; "Cultural Revolution in Buryatia (1917-1937)" (together with F. B. D. Tsybikov devoted his monograph "The Defeat of the Ungernovschiny" (1947) to the period of the Civil War in Transbaikalia, which has not lost its scientific significance to our time.
B. D. Tsibikov as a source scientist continued the work of A. V. Ryazanovsky, Ts. Zhamtsarano and others. He published the monograph " The Customary Law of the Selenga Buryats "(1970), prepared on the basis of the original text made in the Uyghur-Mongolian script with a translation of the Selenga Codes; the monograph " The Customary Law of the Khorin Buryats. Monuments of the Uyghur-Mongolian Script "(1992), which is based on the original text with a Russian translation of the Khorin Code and commentaries to them.

In the field of Mongolian studies, together with G. Erdembilig and R. L. Baldaev, he published "Essays on the history of culture of the MNR" (1971), consisting of two sections: "Cultural construction at the general democratic stage of the Mongolian People's Revolution" and "Cultural Revolution and everyday traditions". The book is provided with a "Bibliography on the history of MNR culture" compiled by R. L. Baldaev and V. E. Radnaev.
Such works as the popular science pamphlet "They met Sukhbaatar" (1967), "Tsagaalgan held in a new way" (1969) testify to the diverse interests of the scientist. A number of his articles are devoted to prominent Buryat historians and public figures: G. N. Rumyantsev (1963), Ts.Zhamtsarano (1989, 1990, 1997), B. Budaev (1995). In 2004, B. D. Tsibikov's generalizing work "Buryat scientists of National-Democrats" was published, in which he systematized his essays on E. D. Rinchino, B. Bambaev, B. Baradin, M. N. Bogdanov, Ts. Zhamtsarano, B. S. Ishidorzhin, G. Tsybikov and A. Dorzhiev, and showed the role and place of national democrats in the Russian society. formation of the Buryat autonomy.
During the difficult period of persecution that began against the Buryat intelligentsia, in connection with attacks on the publication of the epic "Geser", B. D. Tsibikov, along with other scientists, opposed the "denigration" of the epic, argued that it has a national character, and not feudal-khan, for which he was included in the list of "bourgeois-nationalist oblasts".
In 1967, the scientist published an article "Ilyich at the cradle of Buryat statehood", which caused a great response. A group of individuals wrote an article strongly condemning the author "Against distorting historical truth", which claimed that Tsibikov was trying to revise the existing assessment of the activities of bourgeois nationalists, thereby distorting the historical truth.
B. D. Tsibikov left behind a rich scientific heritage and a good memory of himself in the hearts of the best representatives of the Buryat people.
