I met Anatoly Zakharovich Yegorin back in 1976 in Tripoli, when I arrived there on a business trip as the first secretary of the USSR Embassy. During the four years of joint work, we have experienced a lot - the "Four-Day War" between Libya and Egypt, the proclamation of the Jamahiriya, the rapid development of Soviet-Libyan relations, attempts by the National Front for the Salvation of Libya to resort to terrorism, including against Russian diplomats working in the country, and much more. A. Z. Yegorin was remarkable for his ability to analyze incoming information, draw conclusions, and quickly and clearly prepare draft messages sent by the Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No less important for the life of the small embassy, which consisted of only two dozen diplomats, was his ability to get along with people, rally them around him, and be the soul of the team in the full sense of the word.
The fate of A. Z. Egorin is unusual. He was born on February 15, 1931 in the village of Ostraya Luka, Bryansk region. In the autumn of 1941, when the Germans occupied the Bryansk region, Tolya's father Zakhar Klimovich Yegorin became one of the leaders of the partisan movement, heading the underground Suzemsky district executive committee and being the deputy commander of the brigade "For the Power of Soviets". Tolya, along with other children, was sent to the rear. On the way, they were attacked by a German plane. The Messerschmidt pilot saw that the truck was carrying children, but he returned again and again, making round after round until he had shot them all. Only two people escaped - Yegorin and another boy, who managed to hide under the truck. When the fighter flew away, they went into the forest, where they came across one of the Red Army units. So Tolya became the "son of the regiment". On June 24, 1945, he participated in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square.
The years of study dragged on - the Tula Suvorov Military School, the Odessa anti-aircraft Artillery School, and service in the Soviet Army. And then his life moves into a new direction - A. Z. Egorin enters the Faculty of Journalism of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he graduated in 1960. Later, Anatoly Zakharovich receives a second higher education at the Diplomatic Academy.
In 1965-1971, he was a correspondent for the Novosti Press Agency in the United Arab Republic. These were difficult years for Egypt - the defeat in the" Six-Day War "with Israel in 1967, the" War of Attrition " of 1969-1970, in which Soviet air defense divisions and Soviet aviation take part, the death of President Gamal Abdel Nasser in September 1970, and the coming to power of President Anwar Sadat. Yegorin does not sit in a relatively safe Cairo, but goes to places to receive information that is then sent to the APN. Evidence of his participation in the events that took place was the commemorative badge of a veteran of the war in Egypt, which was awarded to Anatoly Zakharovich. In 1974-1980. a new business trip abroad - this time as first secretary, then adviser to the Embassy of the USSR in Libya.
As the years tick by, it's time to leave the civil service and retire. And here fate takes a new turn: A. Z. Yegorin goes to work at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences, where he defends his doctoral dissertation and passes all the official levels, starting with a researcher and ending with a deputy director. Currently, A. Z. Yegorin is the head of the Russian-Arab Dialogue Center and a senior researcher at the Institute of International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
As a scientist, he made a significant contribution to Soviet and Russian Arabic studies, as well as to the development of scientific ties with a number of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, with the Arab Organization for Education, Science and Culture. A. Z. Egorin is one of those specialists who came to Arabic studies with solid practical experience in the field of foreign languages. as a journalist and diplomat. Mironova, examines the activities of this religious and political order, which led a long struggle against the colonial expansion of European powers, culminating in the independence of Libya in 1951. The authors used a wide range of sources in Russian and foreign languages, including archival ones documents and memoirs. This work was the first comprehensive study of Senusism in Russia, published in a separate book. In 2009, A. Z. Yegorin's book "Muammar Gaddafi" was published, which is the first fundamental work in Russia dedicated to the leader of the Libyan revolution, in which the author gave his vision of the Libyan revolution and the personality of its leader. Circle of works of A. Z. Yegorina is not limited to scientific research, but also includes textbooks, such as" United Arab Emirates: geography, history, population", which is designed for students and teachers.
Of particular note is his latest monograph, Heroics and Sorrow of the Bryansk Forest, published in 2010. IV RAS with the assistance of the Presidential Commission on Countering attempts to falsify history to the detriment of Russia's interests. The purpose of this work is to perpetuate the memory of Z. K. Yegorin and his colleagues in the fight against the fascist invaders and at the same time tell the truth about the history of the partisan struggle in the Bryansk region - a history that some are now trying to distort, rewrite in a different way. The work contains eyewitness accounts, archival and other materials about the struggle of patriots against the fascist occupation. The chapter "The North African Campaign of 1940-1943" written by him in the collective monograph "The USSR and the Countries of the East during the Second World War", published for the 65th anniversary of the Victory in 2010, is also devoted to the events of the war years.
